Why Carl?

Since being called to the bar in 2008 in Ontario and 2012 in Manitoba, Carl O'Brien has practise exclusively in the area of criminal law.

As a former Crown Attorney and now a defence lawyer in Ontario and Manitoba, Carl has worked in the criminal justice system on both sides. His experience gives him in-depth perspective on the ins and outs of legal system.

Working in North Bay, Kenora, and Winnipeg, Carl prosecuted numerous criminal cases. Since becoming a defence lawyer, Carl has defended a wide range of matters, particularly impaired driving cases and domestic violence charges, as well as numerous other violent and non-violent offences.

Carl now operates as a sole practitioner, providing clients with personalized services they might not receive at the larger firms. Carl regularly attends court and the Remand Centre.

While based in downtown Winnipeg, Carl will take cases in rural Manitoba, particularly Impaired/Over 80 cases.
